Classic colors for the Union Glashütte Noramis Date

German watch manufacturer Union Glashütte aptly describes its Noramis collection as “charming classics,” a description that is hard to dispute. The collection offers a range of chronographs, sport and racing-inspired timepieces, but the Noramis Date stands out as the most quintessentially classic in the range. Although a series of special editions with themed dials and a collection of watches in 1970s-inspired colors were introduced last year, until recently the Union catalog was conspicuously missing from Norami’s Date references with dials in the simple but classic shades of silver white and black. With these new Noramis Date watches the collection gains a pair of real luxury watches.

The latest additions to the Union Glashütte Noramis Date range are identical to their predecessors, with the main difference being the dial design. The polished stainless steel case has a diameter of 40mm and the brand considers this size to be ideal for both men and women. With a thickness of 10.4mm and a water resistance of 100m, the flat dial is protected through a heavily domed sapphire crystal with a recessed inner bezel ring that adds a touch of depth.

The black and silver dials have a subtle sunburst finish and are decorated with a combination of polished arrow-shaped applied markers and Arabic numerals. The indices and numerals on the silver dial are in a rose gold tone, while on the black version they are in silver. The conical hour and minute hands treated with Super-LumiNova in matching colors further underline the aesthetics of these timepieces.

The central second hand is white on the black dial version and blue on the silver version, adding a subtle yet distinctive touch to any design. The date window positioned at 3 o’clock remains the same and has a black print on a white disc on both dial variants. Around the periphery of the dial are contrasting railway minute tracks for optimal legibility, complemented by luminous triangular markers at 3, 6, 9 and 12 o’clock.

The screwed display back offers an insight into the inner workings of the UNG-07.S1 automatic movement, which is characterized by its silicon hairspring marked with the Si medallion. The movement has a robust power reserve of 60 hours and operates at 25,200 vibrations per hour.

Presented on a black or brown crocodile-embossed calfskin strap, secured by a double folding clasp with two snaps, the new Union Glashütte Noramis Date models offer both style and functionality and are affordably priced 2,400 euros.
