Louis Vuitton introduces the Voyager Flying Tourbillon “Poinçon de Genève” plique-à-jour watch

BY JOVAN KRSTEVSKI

Following its successful iterations as a minute repeater, iridescent and skeleton watch, the Louis Vuitton Voyager takes another bold step forward with the introduction of the Voyager Flying Tourbillon Plique-à-jour. This new version seamlessly combines artistic expression with intricate watchmaking to create a truly unique wrist statement.

The Voyager Flying Tourbillon Plique-à-jour is housed in a stunning case 41mm x 11.68mm 950 platinum and 18K white gold case with polished and brushed surfaces that create a fascinating visual texture. The sapphire crystals on the front and back offer a clear view of the intricate mechanics inside. The water resistance is 50 meters.

A bright blue plique-à-jour enamel forms the background for the dial, showcasing a centuries-old technique that evokes the beauty of stained glass windows. This translucent enamel canvas is carefully crafted from five to six layers, each of which must be fired individually, resulting in over 100 hours of work per dial. Embedded in this artistic canvas is a simple but readable time display. A bright blue circle at 12 o’clock serves as the hour marker, complemented by a glowing blue minute hand. At 6 o’clock, a large opening reveals the mesmerizing flying tourbillon, whose V-shaped cage houses the escapement and balance wheel and appears to gracefully “fly” as it completes its one-minute revolution.
