MacBook Air M3 pre-orders and deals – How to get your MacBook Air M3

Apple updated its MacBook lineup this morning with the new MacBook Air M3. Available in 13-inch (starting at $1,099) and 15-inch (starting at $1,299) sizes, the new Air is said to be 60% faster than the M1-based MacBook Air and up to 13 times faster than the fastest Intel based MacBook Air.

Pre-orders for the MacBook Air M3 are now online. The laptop will arrive to customers and stores on Friday, March 8th. Below are all the retailers where you can pre-order the MacBook Air M3. As a deals editor with 17 years of experience, I’m also listing a few predictions for when we might see the first MacBook deals for Apple’s new laptops.

The MacBook Air M3 is very similar to its predecessor. The biggest changes are the new M3 chipset, dual external display support, and Wi-Fi 6E support. Otherwise, the price, weight, connections and dimensions have remained largely unchanged. Apple claims the new M3 Airs are 60% faster than the M1-based Air, but interestingly they don’t say how they compare to the M2 MacBook Air. Be sure to follow this page for our full lab tests once we’ve fully tested Apple’s new Macs. Otherwise, you can check out our MacBook Air M3 vs M2 guide for a side-by-side comparison.

The 13-inch MacBook Air M1 and 15-inch MacBook Air M2 are officially available. Apple’s new MacBook Air lineup includes:

  • 13-inch MacBook Air (M2): starting at $999
  • 13-inch MacBook Air (M3): starting at $1,099
  • 15-inch MacBook Air (M3): starting at $1,299

However, retailers like Amazon and Best Buy still have the M1 MacBook Air in stock, which regularly sells for $749 (its lowest price ever). I’ve also occasionally seen the 13-inch MacBook Air (M2) sell for $899 (via Best Buy), while the now-discontinued 15-inch MacBook Air (M2) plummeted to just $999 is (via Best Buy and B&H). Photo).

If you want a powerful Mac and are on a budget, I’d recommend grabbing the 15-inch MacBook Air M2 for $999. It’s an amazing system (I bought one last December) and retailers will be looking to dump stock of it after it’s replaced.

If you want deals on the new M3 MacBook Airs, I would wait at least a week before purchasing. Currently, only the Apple Store offers pre-orders and Apple is known for not offering deals. Once the laptops become more readily available, I expect a $50 to $100 discount. Look for deals from stores like Best Buy, Amazon and B&H Photo.
