Google has revealed some of the key specifications for the Samsung Galaxy A35 in a recent Google Play Console listing (via Retail News Asia). These specs give us a better idea of how Samsung’s budget smartphone will compare to the Galaxy S24, and the gap between them could be small – with or without a few compromises.
According to the listing, the Galaxy A35 will feature Samsung’s Exynos 1380 processor, which is also used in the Galaxy A54 and Galaxy Active 5 rugged tablet. Since this chip couldn’t even keep up with the Tensor G1 chip in the 2021 Google Pixel 6, it should come as no surprise that it will be significantly less powerful than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Exynos 2400 found in the Galaxy S24 series are included.
The Galaxy A35 is also said to have at least 6GB of RAM (less than the Galaxy S24) and a 2340 x 1080 resolution display (the same as the S24). The listing also states that the Galaxy A35 will run Android 14, which likely means it will at least run Samsung’s own One UI 6 Android skin.
These confirmed specs mostly match the leaked details we saw earlier this month. The leak also includes a render of the phone that confirms the new “Key Island” design change – a raised area on the side rail that houses the power and volume buttons. You can also see the flat screen that Samsung has installed in all Galaxy S24 models, as well as the central camera cutout.
One thing that the leak unfortunately cannot confirm is the Galaxy A35’s camera system. If you look at Samsung’s previous mid-range models, you can safely assume that there will be similar specifications to the Galaxy A55: 50 MP main camera, 12 MP ultra-wide-angle camera, 5 MP macro camera and a 32 MP front camera. Then when it comes to software intelligence, we can only hope that at least some of the Galaxy S24 series’ Galaxy AI features make the transition.
Although we don’t have a confirmed release date, there are indications that Samsung could make an official announcement soon. According to reports, the Galaxy A35 has appeared on the certification websites of NBTC and Indian BIS, suggesting that the company is close to announcing it and presumably the Galaxy A55 will be announced at the same time.
For now, the details of both phones suggest they offer good value for money provided Samsung keeps the price down. If we know how much they will cost and have a chance to test the phones, we can give a much clearer answer as to whether both the Galaxy A35 and Galaxy A55 are worth your time and money.
